Xiaolong Wang Awarded 2024 J.K. Aggarwal Prize
Congratulations to Xiaolong Wang, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC San Diego, on being awarded the 2024 J.K. Aggarwal Prize by the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR)! He will be presented with the prize at the 27th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR 2024), which will take place in Kolkata, India from December 1-5, 2024.
Computer Graphics Pioneer Ravi Ramamoorthi Earns His Second Frontiers of Science Award in Two Years
UC San Diego computer scientist Ravi Ramamoorthi earned a Frontiers of Science Award – his second in two years – at the 2024 International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS) held in Beijing this month. The awards recognize groundbreaking papers published in the last 10 years.

COMPUTER SCIENTISTS SHED LIGHT ON SCENE RE-RENDERING, EARNING EGSR BEST PAPER AWARD
University of California San Diego researchers from the Jacobs School of Engineering Department of Computer Science and Engineering have proposed a novel rendering technique that could increase rendering efficiency and produce more visually appealing images. The paper, Residual Path Integrals for Re-Rendering, received a best paper award at the 2024 Eurographics Symposium on Rendering (EGSR) held recently in London.
